TO THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONTARIO:
WHEREAS Midwifery is a critical health care service for hundreds of thousands of Ontario families;
WHEREAS The Human Rights Tribunal has ruled that midwives are underpaid by at least 20% because of stereotypes about women's work;
WHEREAS The Tribunal ordered concrete and specific actions to end this longstanding discrimination in compensation for midwives;
THEREFORE WE THE UNDERSIGNED petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to stop fighting Ontario's midwives in court, and immediately comply with the Tribunal's order to close the gender pay gap and uphold the human rights of midwives.
