The London West Youth Cabinet is a volunteer-based civic engagement initiative that gives London West students in Grades 9 to 12 the opportunity to work with other young people to make their voices heard on the provincial issues that matter to them, shape the policies that affect Ontarians, and make an impact in our community.
There is no cost to participate. The Youth Cabinet will work in collaboration with their Member of Provincial Parliament and local partners to make an impact in our community. Benefits of participation include:
- Learning and engagement on issues important to youth, as identified by youth
- Connections and collaboration with community leaders
- Development of advocacy skills
- Peer networking and mentorship
- Resumé building experiences
- High school community service hours
Meetings
Members of the Youth Cabinet meet monthly for a discussion of key issues at 240 Commissioners Road West. The first meeting will be held on October 17, and we will discuss dates for future meetings.
Students are not required to attend all meetings, but will receive community service hours only for those meetings attended.
LTC bus tickets will be provided on request for any Youth Cabinet members who require assistance getting to and from meetings.
