The provincial government is making big changes to OSAP — reducing grants and offering loans instead.
Students will graduate with more debt, making it harder to start a career, buy a home, or build a stable life. Taking on student debt also creates barriers for low-income students and will discourage them from pursuing a post-secondary education.
At a time when rent, groceries, and daily costs are already too high, the government should not be asking students to take on more debt, and forcing them to carry the burden of chronic underfunding in the post-secondary system.
Join me and fellow London MPPs for an emergency townhall to share your concerns about the recent changes to OSAP and organize around next steps.
