QUEEN'S PARK –– Shadow Minister for Colleges and Universities Peggy Sattler (London West) is calling on Minister Nolan Quinn to resign, after news broke that the government delayed inspections to a pair of private career colleges after approving funding.
"The Premier and Minister Quinn have broken the OSAP system," said Sattler. "They've handed students across Ontario a lifetime debt sentence for the crime of trying to get an education, pointing to concerns that we now know were their own fault.
"Ontarians expect accountability and transparency with their hard-earned tax dollars. This Minister, and this government have presided over the gutting of our public institutions, while funneling money to private career colleges that they knew were cause for alarm. This negligence is now being paid for by every student in the province.
"Minister Quinn has proven that he's not up to the job of overseeing Ontario's colleges and universities, and that he can't be trusted to use taxpayer dollars responsibly. It's time for the government to take some accountability, and for Minister Quinn to resign."
