LONDON – MPPs Teresa Armstrong (London-Fanshawe), Terence Kernaghan (London North Centre) and Peggy Sattler (London West) released the following statement in support of London Mayor Ed Holder’s call for vaccine certificates, and echoing Andrea Horwath’s calls for a vaccine certificate program to be implemented across Ontario immediately:
“As Ontario enters the fourth wave, London families deserve to know they are safe when they are out in the community enjoying life in our wonderful city. The government’s decision to do nothing on vaccine certifications makes it harder for everyone to return to their normal lives and leaves small businesses scrambling to develop their own vaccine rules.
We commend the leadership shown by Western University in protecting their students, staff and faculty from COVID-19. Western illustrates a true commitment to our community, in the absence of leadership from the province at this critical time.
Londoners have done their part by following strict public health rules and lining up in droves to get their shots. By ignoring calls for vaccine certificates, the premier is showing that he does not value the sacrifices Londoners have made to stop the spread of COVID-19, nor is he helping our struggling small businesses navigate a safe reopening.
Worst of all, his inaction on vaccine certificates is making Londoners and all Ontarians more vulnerable to a fourth wave.”
