London MPPs seek accountability after health care fraud claims

Published on July 17, 2025

LONDON – London MPPs Teresa Armstrong (London—Fanshawe), Terence Kernaghan (London North Centre), and Peggy Sattler (London West) are sounding the alarm to ensure that public health care dollars must be used to deliver public health care, and are calling for transparency and accountability following troubling allegations involving London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC).

Reports alleging that $60 million dollars in public funds may have been fraudulently misused by individuals in positions of trust are raising serious concerns for Londoners who depend on a strong, publicly funded health care system.

“People in our community are rightfully concerned,” said Armstrong. “What matters most is ensuring that trust in our public health care system is maintained and that every dollar is spent where it’s needed most.”

“Public trust is the foundation of our health care system,” said Kernaghan. “Londoners have a right to know that their health care dollars are going where they’re supposed to, whether that be into patient care, staff, and hospital services. These allegations are serious, and we expect and demand full accountability.”

“This is a severe breach of trust,” said Sattler. “Every public dollar meant for health care must be protected and used to support patients. Like many Londoners, I’m also looking for answers. We’ll be following this story closely as more details become available.”

The MPPs reiterated their support for both LHSC’s health care workers and patients recognizing the essential role this hospital plays in delivering care to Londoners. The Ontario NDP are calling for transparency, accountability, and safeguards to ensure that funding is used to deliver care, and only to deliver care.
