QUEEN'S PARK - Year after year mental health workers at CMHA Thames Valley Addiction & Mental Health Services are forced to do more with less, and provide care in a chronically underfunded system. They do this while facing a 137% increase in children’s mental health crisis calls, a 72% increase in mental health support calls and a 171% increase in crisis response team interactions. And almost all clients are presenting with more complexity than ever before, including serious mental illness, addiction, poverty, trauma, and homelessness.
I asked the government to support our motion to increase CMHA’s base budget by 8% so vital programs can be delivered in our community.
