Will the Premier act now to improve Long-Term Care?

Published on May 20, 2020

QUEEN'S PARK  "My question is to the Premier. Yesterday the Premier stated that he didn’t want to delay urgent reforms desperately needed in long-term care.

Speaker, he doesn’t have to delay. The personal support workers who care for our loved ones deserve better wages, and not just during the pandemic. They deserve full-time jobs at one facility instead of cobbling together multiple part-time shifts, potentially spreading infection from one home to the next. This was a recommendation of the SARS commission, and it’s the right thing to do.

Speaker, will the government act right now to permanently increase PSW wages and mandate permanent one-facility staffing placements in long-term care?"
