QUEEN'S PARK — "My question is to the Premier. Yesterday the Premier stated that he didn’t want to delay urgent reforms desperately needed in long-term care.
Speaker, he doesn’t have to delay. The personal support workers who care for our loved ones deserve better wages, and not just during the pandemic. They deserve full-time jobs at one facility instead of cobbling together multiple part-time shifts, potentially spreading infection from one home to the next. This was a recommendation of the SARS commission, and it’s the right thing to do.
Speaker, will the government act right now to permanently increase PSW wages and mandate permanent one-facility staffing placements in long-term care?"
