QUEEN’S PARK — MPP Peggy Sattler (London West) is calling on the government to listen to the majority of Ontarians who are shown in a recent poll to know that the province’s colleges urgently need more funding.
"We have sounded the alarm about crushing college cuts for years,” said Sattler. “Ontarians know that postsecondary institutions are vital to keep and create jobs, and to ensure our province’s workforce is prepared for an uncertain and rapidly changing future.
“As more programs are cut and campuses are closed, the impacts are especially devastating for small, rural, and northern communities, where employers depend on local graduates to meet local labour market needs.
“The government’s contempt for public education has put Ontario’s postsecondary institutions in a deep hole, but it’s not too late. The premier needs to listen to the majority of Ontarians who know that the situation is urgent, and give our colleges the critical funding and resources they need to help prepare our province for a bright future.”
